My latest Pinterest inspiration

I saw this wonderful guest book idea on Pinterest and decided to make my own for my baby showers:

So, I bought a canvas from Michael's Craft Store and drew the tree.  I then painted the trunk:

I took the canvas to my showers and asked all the guests to put a green fingerprint anywhere on the branches as a leaf.  I then wrote their name beside their fingerprint.

Below is the end result, which we are going to hang up in the nursery as a keep sake.

So, that is my latest prego project!   It will be a nice keepsake, a  way to remember all the love shared at the baby showers, and a great way to honor our friends and family who will be an important part of Addison's life, as they are in ours.

Blessing in 3d!

Last night we went to Fun Fetal Photos to get a 3d Ultrasound of Baby Addison.  We went there back when Addison was 16 weeks old to find out her gender a few weeks earlier than at the doctor's office.  Last night's 3d ultrasound shows what baby will look like when she is born. It was amazing how much she had changed since 16 weeks!  Technology is so advanced, I wonder what will be available when our children are having children!

 In one month, Addison will be full term.  I am so excited to meet this miracle baby!  She is already such a blessing to so many!

DIY Nursery Project

Perfect study break relaxation technique?? Nursery crafting!!!
Ok, after a long study session at Barnes N' Noble, sipping my favorite-- salted caramel hot chocolate-- and reading up on various Marriage and Family Theories... I decided I needed a break.

What better way to do that than to head to Michael's Craft Store? Lucky me, it happened to be a Michael's Dollar Deal Day! I got 5 pieces of scrapbook paper, originally 59 cents for 20 cents each, 2 sponge brushes, originally a dollar for 7 cents each, and 3 white wooden letters usually 4 dollars each for 3 dollars each. So, that leaves me with a grand total of $10.14 + tax. The only other supply I used to complete this project was Mod Podge which I had left over from my DIY socket covers.

So, here is how the project went:

Cut out pieces of various colored scrapbook paper and arranged them on the letters
I recommend taking a picture of it when you have it all laid out, so you remember where to mod podge the pieces.

Once you have it arranged as you would like, start mod podging the paper to the letter .  Then seal it with 2 coats of mod podge on the top. 

VOILA!  Unique nursery letters!


They have plain wooden letter at Babies R' Us for 6.99 + tax each and they are not anywhere near as cute!

So, these DIY letters were a good deal -- not to mention super cute and super fun to make!
When the nursery is complete, I will post a picture of them hanging on my nursery wall!  (Did you notice some of the design matches the DIY socket covers I made?-- it's all about the details, people! LOL)

Music for Baby

I played this for the baby today. She was kicking a whole bunch! Hope it is because she liked it and not because the volume was up too loud. I never know just how loud to play it, I mean it has to go through a whole lot to reach her...

I don't play music for the baby as much as I would like to, maybe a few songs a week. I am going to try and be better about it. So far, the songs I play most for her are "Beautiful Things" by Gungor and "Hold Me" By Jamie Grace/ Toby Mac . I also play some Beethoven and Mozart because I heard that it is good for neural tube development. I have played other Christian Contemporary songs like "Oh Praise Him" by DCB , "Hope Now" by Addison Road , & a variety of Christmas songs.

Ok, I have to add this song to my blog, just because it is my favorite at the moment. I did not think any song would take the place of  "How He Loves" By DCB , but I am starting to really like this one more and play it for baby a lot.

OK, I'm gonna stop procrastinating. I have to study for a MAJOR test that will have a large effect on my career. But, here I am instead-- blogging...

Baby kick me one more time!

I have been feeling the baby move for a few weeks now.  Yesterday was the first time I got to share this experience with my husband.  We were on the couch watching a movie and all of a sudden, I felt the baby kick my arm!  This was the first time I had been able to feel the baby move externally. I grabbed my husband's hand, and he was able to feel it too.  It was so magical to share that experience with him and not just have him hear me talk about it.

My husband and I are both off of work for over a week for the Christmas holiday.  We plan to spend our break finishing our bathroom renovation, painting our kitchen, and getting the baby's nursery ready.  The tile guy is actually here right now, installing our bathroom tile.  John is painting our kitchen this awesome light grey color that we bought yesterday.  View the paint color

The idea we have for the nursery is something I saw on Pottery Barn Kids.  It is a light lavender and with white and silver accents.

I can't decide on the type of bedding that I want.  It is between the Gabrielle Bedding and the Harper Bedding from PBK.  If you have an opinion, please share!

I am going to get monogramming done on the pillows and blanket.  I was set on the Gabrielle Bedding at first, however the reviews suggest that the quality of the Harper is better and more durable.  Decisions, decisions...


This is the paint color that we bought for the nursery, it's called Easter Basket. Easter basket  (The purple color, not the bright pink the picture)


I spoke with a potential doula on the phone a few days ago.  We have a meeting on December 30. I am really excited.  She seems really nice and knowledgeable. She has suggested some birthing classes, a lactation group, and a breast feeding book for me to get. 


We had a fetal echocardiogram on December 13.  The baby's heart was healthy and normal.  Her growth was right on track as well.  It was a great doctor's visit.  We enjoyed seeing the baby again.  As usual, she hid her face form the monitor, however we got a few peeks!  She is super cute. I love her little, skinny hands, legs, and feet. 


There is evidence of God's greatness in this world, in things like flowers, the sun, and the powerful ocean.  I have always made it  a habit to thank God for those small miracles that show us his hand is in everything.  Being pregnant has taken that to a whole new level.  Each kick, ultrasound,&  positive doctor's report is such a tangible reminder of his greatness and involvement in my life.  I ask for God to continue to knit my baby uniquely in my womb and guide John and I in every aspect of our lives, especially as our journey as parents.  


Psalm 139:13  For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.
